Huckabee Proposes Tax Cut For Arkansans
Governor Mike Huckabee of Arkansas, already one of the most tax-friendly states in the nation, is looking into cutting taxes in the form of a tax rebate for the state's residents. Concerned that high utility and gasoline costs will lead to a "rough summer" for many families, Huckabee has directed the Department of Finance and Administration to look at tax rebates recently implemented by other states.Under Huckabee, Arkansas is experiencing one of the healthiest state economies in recent memory, with unemployment at historic lows and a budget surplus of more than $330 million.
