HuckaMania in Michigan
Before this week, Gov. Huckabee had never spent one dime in the state of Michigan. He has no campaign office and no staff in the state. But the response to Huckabee in Michigan over the last few days has been absolutely phenomenal.According to MSNBC's First Read, Huckabee held a rally in Michigan Friday night with only 24 hour's notice and drew 1,000 enthusiastic supporters -- no other candidate is drawing crowds like that.
Then, on Saturday morning he hosted a breakfast for over 100 Michigan church leaders. After that he held another rally in Grand Rapids that drew over 600. And at this rally he received the endorsement of Michigan state Rep. Fulton Sheen, a former faith and values committee chair for Mitt Romney's Michigan campaign.
Yes, Michigan loves Governor Huckabee. So much so that Ed Rollins, Senior Advisor to the Hucakbee campaign, believes that with another week they could WIN Michigan. But, Michigan's primary has never been part of the Huckabee plan -- it was much better for Huckabee to focus on South Carolina than on Mitt Romney's home state.
The surprising amount of support Huckabee has garnered in Michigan -- with NO investment of campaign resources -- is proof that Huckabee's message is beginning to resonate with people of all types and in all parts of the country.
